Earth and Space Science

This year is off to a terrific start!  Participants this year will study geology, meteorology and astromony. The second NNSP Summer Institute took place from August 3rd through August 7th. Participants were involved in the investigation of earth and space sciences involving 5 full days of field experience in the Elko area. Sites included Lamoille Canyon, Humboldt River and local mines.

Rachel Dolbier, Director of the Keck Museum at the Mackey School of Mines was a Summer Institute instructor and will also lead the three geology sessions for the year.   John Cannon, UNR from UNR's Department of Curriculum, Learning, and Teaching will conduct sessions on meteorology and astronomy.
